1. Thrift stores - well, Vaule World that you described, is actually huge, the biggest in town
2. Pre school and kindergarten - My daughter went to Green House montessory www.greenhousemontessoriannarbor.com.
It was the BEST preschool and kindergarten I have ever seen. The tuition is less expensive than in other places.
3. Food stores:
By the Pound - 615 S Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 - a bulk store for dry fruits, nuts, teas, coffees, pasta, different lentils, grains,ext. Relatively inexpensive.
Randanzo - a huge selection of fruits and vegetables . Inexpensive - for a family with children it is worth the drive. Lots of exotic staff.. The closest is probably in Westland.

4. Clothes - T J. Max. There are two in Ann Arbor - one in westgate, one in Carpenter rd. Excellent quality and affordable prices of designer clothes.
5. Books: Crazy wisdom on Main st. and Washington. A new age store, with nice selection of books, some related items, jewlery. Second floor there is a wonderful tea room. Some light meals. Music on Saturday nights. Many workshops.
6. Used bookstores: Ann Arbor is supposed to be the town with the highest percentage of bookstores per population.
West side books - Liberty, east of Main. Aunt Agatha store - on 4th st., north of Liberty. A store that dedicates the space just to mystery.
On weekends - Saturday 10-4, Sunday 1-4, there is library sale at the main library in Ann Arbor. Ocassionally I find there books in Hebrew. The books cost there usually $2, Cd and DVD's $3. Amazing selection.l
7. Winter: I strongly recommend overshoes

I put them in winter over any shoe - and walk comfortably in the snow. Can take them off when I get to work. I even went with slippers in them

זה גן עדן ליצירתיות. המקום מביל חומרים קונבנציונלים ולא כל כך קונבנציונלים לעבודות יד, במחירים מגוחכים. ילדים יכולים לשבת שם ולהכין פרןייקטים. יש דוגמאות שנותנות השראה. מקום מופלא לילדים בימי חורף סגרירים.

מקום נעים, מואר, בלי מוסיקה צעצבנת. מבחר מדהים של סוגי תהת באיכות מעולה. עוגות תאילנדיות מופלאות שלא דומות לכלום. ימי חמישי ב12 יש פורופ פתוח של אנשי מחשבים. מביני דבר אומרים שהוא מאוד מועיל. מחירים סבירים בהחלט.
